Tipping is a sensitive subject and we all like to be 'doing the right thing'.

It is customary to tip porters approximately RM2 or RM3 per bag. A 10 to 15% gratuity is appreciated in restaurants, particularly where the service charge is waived.

Visitors to Malaysia must submit a Digital Arrival Card before entry. This electronic card, which replaces the traditional paper version, can be filled out up to three days prior to arrival. Completing this step in advance facilitates a smoother entry process at immigration.

The best rates for money exchange are found in banks or bureau de change offices. These are located in shopping malls or along busy streets.

Banks generally close at mid-afternoon however exchange offices open until late. For Travellers Cheques, you may need to carry your passport.
